Interactive Map: See How Many Concealed Weapon Permit Holders Live in Your ZIP Code
Of the hundreds of concealed weapon permits issued by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, few are held by Rosemont residents.
Not counting members of law enforcement, there are more than 450 people in Sacramento County authorized to carry a concealed weapon.
Of those, five live in Rosemont.
Rosemont Patch analyzed the list of concealed weapon permits issued by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department as of Jan. 25. According to that information, the areas with the largest concentration of concealed weapon permit-holders are Carmichael, Folsom, Arden Arcade and part of Elk Grove.

Concealed weapon permits became a hot topic of the 2010 sheriff's race, with all three major candidates vowing to ease the process to obtain one.
And applications for the permits are on the rise, according to the Sacramento Bee. Last year, 196 people applied to carry a concealed weapon–up from 103 in 2009. The year before that, only 22 people applied.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department and Sacramento Police Department both issue the permits, but the city police department issues far fewer. That department only has about three current permits issued to residents, Sacramento Police spokesman Sgt. Norm Leong said.
