Juvenile Hall Holds Holiday Decoration Contest

The Kiefer Boulevard facility dressed up its living units.

Some local youths have been busy putting up holiday decorations, but they aren't putting up Christmas lights or stringing tinsel around their homes.

The held a holiday decoration contest this week, and the living units at the Kiefer Boulevard facility were decked out in various motifs.

The theme for the contest was "board games," and the winning unit chose the game of chess as its theme, according to a news release.

Second place went to a "Candyland"-themed hall, and third place was won by the "board game classics" unit.

The contest was judged Tuesday by Sacramento County Supervisor Don Nottoli, Chief Probation Officer Don Meyer and others.

Spokeswoman Kerri Aiello said the winners received refreshments, funded by donations from the Sacramento County Juvenile Justice Chaplaincy.

Other organizations that sponsored holiday parties in the living units were: Bayside Granite Bay, Capitol Foursquare, River City Church, Sunrise Community Church, Omni Church, Jubilee Church, New Testament Church, Shiloh Baptist, Bethesda Family Ministries, Thrive Church and Greater Glory Deliverance Center.
