King's Skate Country Preparing for Final Nights
The landmark roller rink is moving toward closure despite the efforts of some Rosemont residents.

The co-owner of said last week that "three or four people" have expressed interest in buying the Bradshaw Road roller rink, but that doesn't change his after nearly four decades in operation.
"They're serious, but I don't know how much money they have to do it," Dan King said Friday.
The rink, which opened in 1972, will hold its final skate nights from 8 p.m. to midnight this Friday and Saturday. The other King's Skate Country location in Elk Grove will remain open.

Workers had already started to empty out back rooms of the business Friday, and would start the long process of removing all other equipment this week, King said.
As he spoke, a mail carrier delivering to the business asked how soon the family would want mail forwarded to another address.

As for a circulated soon after the King family announced plans to close the rink, King said he "didn't understand what it's going to accomplish."
"I understand people don't want it to close," he said. "We don't want it to either."
King, whose lease is expiring, said he hasn't had any conversation with the owners of the property. In a previous interview, King said he plans to close the rink because of slow business and because he wants to retire.
