A 41-year-old man allegedly threw a "large river rock" at his wife and punched her in the back earlier this month, according to a recent Sacramento County Sheriff's Department crime log.

The incident happened on July 11 but wasn't reported until Friday, the crime log states.

The man also allegedly scratched the wife's car as he was moving out of their Kiefer Boulevard home, the department said.

Department receives reports of gunshots

At least three Rosemont residents reported hearing gunshots early Tuesday morning, but deputies were unable to find the source.

Sheriff's department spokesman Dep. Jason Ramos said authorities received three calls around 12:40 a.m. from areas near Kiefer Boulevard and Huntsman Drive, saying they heard gunshots.

"[The] officer responding found nothing in [the] area, no signs of disturbance and no shooting victims," Ramos said in an email.

Suspected shoplifter stopped at Save Mart

A teen was stopped at the Save Mart on Kiefer Boulevard after he tried to steal liquor but was caught in the act, Ramos said.

Ramos said the teen concealed the booze in a backpack and left the store, but was stopped by a manager.

"The manager declined to pursue prosecution, so the thief was not cited or arrested," Ramos said.
