Park District May Furlough Employees
The Cordova Recreation and Park District Board of Directors will meet Wednesday.

Plagued by declining property taxes and low revenues, the Cordova Recreation and Park District may soon force all full-time employees to take six unpaid furlough days.
The district's board of directors will discuss the item at a 6:30 p.m. meeting Wednesday at 2197 Chase Dr., Rancho Cordova.
"The district has a serious financial condition due to loss of revenues, low fund balances and increasing operational costs," a staff report for Wednesday's meeting states. "Property tax revenue has decreased every year since 2008-09."

District staff expect the general fund to bring in $107,000 less than the previous fiscal year, the report states.
Forcing the furlough days, which would have to be taken before June 30 of next year, would save the district $72,000 and amount to a 2.3 percent pay cut for each employee.

"The 2011-12 budget was balanced with this cost savings included," the report states.
Free golf lessons to be offered
Staff will offer free golf lessons to residents living within the district at on Oct. 22, 26 and 29, according to the agenda.
