Probation Department to be Recognized Tuesday by County Board

This week will be named "Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Week."

The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors will recognize local probation officers at its Tuesday meeting, proclaiming this "Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Week."

The department, which oversees the , has been hammered by in recent years.

"By collaborating with community leaders and volunteering their own time off work, many officers are making a difference while faced with expanding caseloads and additional responsibilities,” a press release quotes Chief Probation Officer Don Meyer as saying.

The department also has more than 27,000 adult offenders in its system, the press release says.

Tuesday's presentation will be held at 2 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, 700 H St.
