Prom Dress Giveaway at Sacramento Public Library
Teens: Come get a free dress. Adults: Give your formal dress a new lease on nightlife.

We’re giving new life to previously-loved prom dresses.
Several of our branch libraries are taking donations of dresses, accessories, and other formal wear. There are two ways to participate:
- Adults: If your old dress(es), tuxedo or other prom accessory is clean and in decent shape, please bring it by one of our participating libraries. Please note, each location will stop accepting new donations after their giveaway day (until next year, that is).
- Teens (Ages 13-19): Visit one of our participating library locations and get a FREE prom dress or other formalwear.
Staff are taking donations at the locations shown below. During the month of March, we’ll give it all away to local teens.
A few tips to teens before you come “shop” with us:
- You can try dresses on. But please don’t wear makeup on dress giveaway days. It can get on dresses and ruin them.
- There will be limited changing space/privacy. Please wear clothing that you can pull dresses over to try them on, such as yoga shorts, sports bras and leotards.
- Please bring your school ID.
