Raley's and Save Mart: Which Has More Police Activity?
A Save Mart spokeswoman said the Rosemont store has not received any complaints about safety.

Comparing the safety of two businesses is a bit like comparing apples and oranges: No matter how many factors are considered, there will still be things that separate them.
The Raley's at 8391 Folsom Blvd. and the Save Mart at 9137 Kiefer Blvd. have been directly compared several times on this site, with .
But in the past six months, the Sacramento Police Department has responded to 127 calls at Raley's, while Sacramento County Sheriff's Department deputies have been called to Save Mart only 21 times.

Despite those differences, Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesman Dep. Jason Ramos said it's more important to know why police are responding to the stores.
"Well obviously looking only at the number of calls doesn't tell you anything, without knowing the nature of the calls," Ramos said in an email.

Representatives from both stores said they try to keep shoppers safe.
Raley's spokeswoman Ashley Zepernick said the Folsom Boulevard store has several security measures.
"We have asset protection presence at this store regularly, in addition to two guard services," Zepernick said in an email. "Our property management company provides us with early to mid evening coverage of the parking lot and we have hired Americore (a guard service) to patrol the store and parking lot during evening hours."
Meanwhile at Save Mart, spokeswoman Alicia Rockwell said the store provides security "on an as-needed basis," but declined to give specifics.
She said the property manager would be required to provide some parking lot security as well; Los Altos-based Vintage Realty has not returned a call as of this posting.
Rockwell said any Save Mart customer can request carry-out service if he or she feels unsafe.
"If they weren't offered it … they can by all means ask for assistance as well," Rockwell said in a phone interview.
Rockwell also said the company has no record of customer complaints about safety at its Rosemont store.
"We haven't received any direct customer concerns into the store or into the corporate office here," she said. "That doesn't mean they don't exist–we just haven't had anyone express them directly to us."
She said customers can relay their concerns to store managers in person, or by calling 1-800-692-5710 or visiting SaveMart.com.
