Rosemont's store is permanently closed, a spokeswoman with that company's corporate office confirmed Friday.
After a half-off liquidation sale and talk of a possible relocation, there was confusion among some Rosemont residents about whether the store would be reopening. The store now sits with its windows covered in butcher paper explaining only, "business is closed."
Ace Hardware spokeswoman Kate Kirkpatrick said Friday that the store would not be reopening, but declined to comment further.

"Ace Hardware Corporation does not have any comment to share regarding the closing of the store at 9161 Kiefer Blvd.," Kirkpatrick said in an email. "However, please note that we would encourage residents of that area to visit Emigh Ace Hardware at 3555 El Camino Ave., just five miles north of the now closed store at the intersection of Watt and El Camino. This is an excellent store that does a great job of offering top notch service to the community."
