Rosemont Plaza Wall Issue May be Settled Tuesday
The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors will discuss the issue this week.

After months of back-and-forth, a community meeting and several letters from residents, Sacramento County Supervisors may finally answer a controversial question Tuesday:
Currently, the only thing separating the shopping center from the homes behind it are the wood fences built by the homeowners. That doesn't fit with a 1987 law requiring a masonry wall between homes and commercial properties.
The county's Code Enforcement Department first looked into the Kiefer Boulevard property when a resident complained about the fence in 2009, according to a staff report. The shopping center's Bay Area-based owners appealed in January of this year, and the issue has been and .

The shopping center's owners contend that building a new masonry wall would require ripping out dozens of trees and would be unsightly and too expensive. Many residents behind the center say it's a necessary improvement to give them privacy from delivery trucks and homeless people.
Sacramento County staff have recommended denying the appeal, and requiring the plaza owners to build a masonry wall.
