Sequoia Students Test Activity Meter
Students at the Rosemont elementary school are part of a pilot program with Zamzee.
Students at are earning freebies and other incentives for staying active, according to a school district press release.
The school and Sutter Middle School are testing a product made by Redwood City startup Zamzee, which rewards them for being active.
"The more students move around during the day, the more points are recorded on the Zamzee website," the Sacramento City Unified School District said in a press release. "The points can be used as currency to purchase items, such as stickers, iPod ear buds and store gift cards. In addition, parents can deposit money in a child’s Zamzee account as further incentive."

The test students are starting with $5 in their accounts, the press release said.
In all, 75 students at Sequoia and 200 at Sutter are testing the device. A presentation on the Zamzee test will be held at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday at Sequoia.
