The following is a press release issued by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department:
At approximately 2:00 am [Wednesday] morning, a Sheriff’s patrol deputy was waved down by a female standing outside of her vehicle in the intersection of Mayhew Road and Kiefer Blvd.
As the deputy contacted the female, he observed her erratic behavior as she began walking in and out of the roadway talking, but making no sense. The deputy requested a DUI trained officer to respond in order to evaluate the female’s ability to operate a motor vehicle.
When the deputy re-contacted the female for identifying information, she began to struggle with the officer. The female was successful in gaining control of her vehicle and in an attempt to flee; she hit the deputy with her vehicle. The deputy fired rounds as she fled the scene. With the assistance of responding officers, the deputy pursued the vehicle a short distance where she pulled into a driveway and attempted to flee on foot. The female was apprehended by responding officers at this location.
