- The 2020 Census results are in! Figures released on August 12 show that the Sacramento region has grown 11.6 percent since 2010. It's also majority nonwhite for the first time, with those who identify as Asian and Latino accounting for the largest numbers of new residents. (The Sacramento Bee)

- Mike Hazlip reports on a Citrus Heights police investigation of a Sunday night shooting on Auburn Boulevard. The incident occurred on August 8 around 6:20 p.m., and Lt. Michael Wells says that it appeared to have involved two individuals who knew each other. No injuries were reported.
