Here are the top stories today in Roseville:

1. The 2020 Census results are in! Figures released on August 12 show that the Sacramento region has grown 11.6 percent since 2010. It's also majority nonwhite for the first time, with those who identify as Asian and Latino accounting for the largest numbers of new residents. (The Sacramento Bee)
2. Kinetic Ink in Rocklin is collecting donations for victims of the Dixie Fire. Check out an interview of the tattoo shop's owner from Pedro Rivera of Fox40. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
3. Roseville Police offer advice on how to spot and avoid phone scams. Tips include letting unknown numbers go to voicemail, not engaging with robocalls and vetting requests for charitable donations. (Roseville Today)
4. Are you looking for a new place to get caffeinated? Citrus Heights welcomes a new coffee shop on San Juan Avenue. BeanHeads will be the first craft coffee purveyor in the area.(citrusheightssentinel.com)
5. Mike Hazlip reports on a Citrus Heights police investigation of a Sunday night shooting on Auburn Boulevard. The incident occurred on August 8 around 6:20 p.m., and Lt. Michael Wells says that it appeared to have involved two individuals who knew each other. No injuries were reported. • 2nd Annual Taco Throw Down: Local restaurants will compete to make the best taco at this tasty event. Adults 21 and over can enjoy taco tastings, music, lawn games and a raffle @The Grounds on Saturday. This event is a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Roseville. • Urinetown, the Musical: What happens to one city when one of humanity’s basic needs is monetized? See this hilarious, Tony-winning musical satire at the Roseville Theater Arts Academy. Tickets are $15 online. 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM
• Dance on the Edge: Dance the night away at this energetic, free Latin dance series in Old Sacramento on Saturday- dance lessons and live music. 6:00 PM-10:00PM
• Sinister Creature Con 2021: Master artists, filmmakers, actors, engineers and others who create in the horror genre are @The Grounds on Sunday. Come ready for the cosplay contest, and don’t forget to stay for the afterparty. Tickets are $27 online plus $10 for parking. 11:00 PM-7:00 PM
