AI Chatbot Sends Teen to 'Widowmaker' Cliff: A British Columbia Rescue Exposes Navigation Limits (webpronews.com) โ Three hikers from Roseville had to be rescued on Mount Shasta after relying on an AI chatbot for route planning and packing advice that left them short on food and water. Their ordeal, along with a similar rescue in Canada, has prompted search-and-rescue officials to urge Roseville-area adventurers to treat AI as a supplement, not a primary guide, and to consult rangers and trusted maps before heading out.

Alchemy Surf Resort, Placer County (oftmw.com) โ A major new surf resort is planned just north of Roseville in the Placer One development, featuring a large surf lagoon, hotel, bungalows, and extensive action-sports amenities. The Galt Police Department just joined this regional effort, which already includes Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, Auburn, and Placer County agencies, giving families another tool to communicate needs quickly and safely.
