Share Your America! Host a High School Exchange Student!

Your family can make a difference in the world!  By hosting an international exchange student, your family will have an opportunity to learn about a new culture and promote global understanding, right here in this community.

Host families are volunteers who open their homes to a 15-18 year old from one of 25 countries around the world. They provide room and board and a caring environment. Students typically arrive in August and attend your local high school.  They bring their own spending money and insurance.  They are highly motivated to perfect their English and to experience your family's America.  Students and host families receive ongoing guidance and support throughout the year with a local coordinator.

Host families represent the diversity of American culture – with varied economic, religious and social backgrounds.  Among those who embrace the exchange experience are parents looking to give their children a glimpse of the world, without having to travel the globe.  In addition, there are many successful host families who have no children, or adult children who no longer live at home, who are looking for new ways to connect to their communities, while gaining fresh perspectives on the world.

Increasingly, parents, educators and the business community are recognizing the importance of preparing our kids for the global economy by creating "international" experiences that broaden each student's world perspectives. Exchange programs support a priority United States foreign policy goal of expanding communications between U.S. citizens and people from other countries.
