Here are the top three stories in Roseville today:
- For the last several years, Roseville and surrounding towns in Placer County have seen a trend of mail theft spikes throughout tax season. According to the Roseville Police Department, 58 of the 77 reported mail thefts in 2021 occurred in the months of January, February, March, and April — the height of tax season. Roseville Police Department crime analyst Jason Rudolph said just 12 mail thefts have been reported in town so far this year, but that number may spike as Tax Day 2022 (Apr. 18) draws closer and more residents start receiving their refunds and other tax documents from the IRS. (KCRA Sacramento)
- One motorcyclist was killed and another was hospitalized in a Roseville crash on Friday morning, according to officials. Sunrise Avenue at Oak Ridge Drive was closed to traffic as police investigated the crash, which reportedly involved a motorcycle that skidded across the cement curb dividing Sunrise Avenue's north and southbound lanes and became wedged between a metal post and a chain-link fence. No further details have been released at this time. (KCRA Sacramento)
- Heads up to any Roseville residents who like to visit the popular Hidden Falls Regional Park in North Auburn: Beginning today (Apr. 9) through Apr. 22, the park will require daily visitors to obtain a parking permit due to the anticipated number of visitors during this time period. The Placer County Department of Parks and Open Space already requires reservations on weekends, holidays, and peak-use days. (Roseville Today)
