  1. I hope you enjoyed the spring-like 90 degree weather we've been having, because the mercury has already started to rise as we get back to seasonably warm triple digits in South Placer. Today will see a high near 105 degrees and we won't see another cool down until after the weekend. (Roseville Today)
  2. Over four dozen movies have been filmed in Placer County along with dozens of commercials and other photo shoots. Films like "Almost Famous" and "George of the Jungle" owe their scenery to our county. Think you saw part of Placer in a film? You may be right. Check it out with this list from Roseville Today. 3. The Placer County Grand Jury took a look at the homeless situation in the county. “The grand jury’s investigation uncovered the fact that there is no single owner or leader in county staff overseeing the homeless issue,” stated the grand jury report, which was released June 30. “The lack of information from Health and Human Services made it difficult to compile specific facts and figures needed to accurately report the number of homeless currently residing in Placer County.” They also determined that Health and Human Services "lacks knowledge as to the specific amount of funds available, allocated to the homeless, and how it is spent on remedying the problem.” The grand jury made several recommendations. Placer County has until Oct. 1 to issue a response to the grand jury’s findings and recommendations. (Gold Country Media)
  4. Kidz Gym Roseville has officially reopened at 5020-5 Foothills Boulevard. If you have a rambunctious kid, ages three and up, this place includes tumbling, ninja parkour, jiu-jitsu, kenpo karate, kickboxing classes and more. They’ve also opened a new Ninja Warrior Kidz sports center. facebook.com/kidsportzusa (Style Magazine)
  5. The woman killed on Folsom Blvd in Folsom on July 4th has been identified. She is Delia Latu, 27, of Rancho Cordova. Latu was travelling at a high rate of speed when she struck a pillar under the Highway 50 bridge. Folsom Blvd was closed in both directions. Nobody else was in the car at the time of the accident.
