Here are the top five stories today in Roseville:

  1. The Roseville City Council is accepting applications from citizens 18 and older residing within the city limits of Roseville interested in serving on one of several commissions. The application process includes a video interview. Members receive no compensation for their time, although they may attend training workshops or seminars at city expense. Friday, June 3, at 4 p.m. is the deadline for submitting online applications to the City Clerk. Applications and information may be obtained here, at the City Clerk's office (311 Vernon Street) or by calling 916-774-5267. (Press Release Desk)
  2. Operation Swim was started in 2011, when the Roseville Aquatics Supervisor noticed that at a Family Swim, numerous children were swimming in their clothes because they did not have swimsuits. Since 2011, Operation Swim has provided over 1,100 children with swim lessons and more than 2,800 children have received new swimsuits and towels. It is accepting donations of new swimsuits and beach towels, as well as monetary donations. For every $40 collected, a child receives a new swimsuit, beach towel and swimming lessons. For more information or to donate, call (916) 772-PLAY. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Two people have now been arrested in connection with a fight that broke out just before 3 a.m. Monday at a hotel on the 100 block of North Sunrise Avenue. It resulted in Roseville's first homicide of the year. Andre Aguiar, 21, of Sacramento was arrested just hours after the fight occurred. Additionally, Sacramento resident Shirley J. Horton, 19, has now been taken into custody on accusations of being an accessory to the murder. The name of the victim has not been released. (CBS Sacramento)
  4. Sully’s Bar & Grill is not a drive-thru restaurant, that is until Tuesday when a sedan made itself at home there, crashing through the front of the restaurant. It is unclear what caused the driver to crash into the restaurant, but police are chalking it up as an accident. Nobody was injured in the chaos. (CBS Sacramento)
  5. Two Lincoln High School track and field athletes have made it to the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters meet this week. If they finish in the Top 4 at Masters or reach the state at-large automatic qualifying mark they will advance to the state meet on May 27 and May 28. (Placer Herald)
