This could be our last day for a while to enjoy temperature highs below 100 degrees. Ugh. We can expect a high of around 91 today, and a chance to cool down tonight with a low of about 62. Humidity should be around 32%. Winds will be about 5-10 mph.
Note: An Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for Thursday and Friday as temperatures are expected to reach 105-110 degrees. Avoid strenuous outdoor activities from 10:00am to 6:00pm on those days.
Today’s Top 5 Stories You Need to Know About:
- Roseville police have arrested a man for arson in relation to the grass fire in the greenbelt area behind the UA Theatres on Saturday. RPD received a call with a description of the man suspected of starting the fire. The witness later made a positive identification of the suspect. (RPDFB)
- Two people were arrested on Monday night for shining laser lights at a California Highway Patrol airplane. While Roseville police officers responded to the area on the ground believed to be the location of the first suspect, a second person began shining another laser at the CHP airplane. Both suspects got into a car, fleeing the scene, but were stopped and arrested by RPD. The CHP reports “There has been a significant number of laser strikes on aircraft this year.” (Fox40)
- It was no ordinary “cat in a tree” situation when Citrus Heights police responded to a call about a mountain lion in a tree at a house on Verner Ave. Officers spotted the big cat, but it fled into a nearby cemetery before California Fish and Game arrived. Anyone who finds a mountain lion, or other unusual wildlife, in their neighborhood should report the sighting at https://apps.wildlife.ca.gov/wir/incident/create or call 911 if there is imminent danger. (SacBee)
- If you are not an avid reader of The Chicken Wire, Chick-fil-A’s official news outlet, you may have missed that the restaurant brought back its popular seasonal classic - the Peach Milkshake yesterday. This summer-themed dessert combines Chick-fil-A Icedream® with peaches and is topped with whipped cream and a cherry. Get it while it lasts! (TCW)
- Seasonal larvicide treatments of agricultural areas, rice fields and marshes of western Placer County started yesterday to reduce the risk of mosquito-transmitted diseases. You can sign up for treatment notification emails from the Placer Mosquito & Vector Control District on their website. (PMVCD)

About me
My name is Kelly Mays Risse, and I have lived in Roseville just about all my life. I graduated from Roseville High School majored in Journalism at CSU Sacramento. If you recognize me, it may be from St. Clare Church, where I worked the past 10 years. Or maybe from the myriad activities my husband and I have been part of while raising our three boys here. I have watched Roseville grow from a cheerful little railroad town to a large and diverse city. I love where we live, from the hiking trails to the hip new restaurants, and the people who live here. I am excited to bring the highlights to you!
