Bail Set for Denise Wilder in Daughter's Death

$500,000 bail granted to Denise Wilder, accused of abuse and neglect after 2-year-old daughter died from malnutrition and alcohol poisoning.

A Roseville mother arrested in connection with her 2-year-old daughter's death was granted $500,000 bail from a Placer County judge today, News 10 has reported. 

Denise Wilder, 37, was charged with felony child abuse and neglect after an autopsy revealed her daughter, McKinley Wilder, died of malnutrition and alcohol poisoning. Wilder to the charges last month. 

McKinley Wilder was found dead at the Diamond Oaks Road home in Roseville when police arrived around 5 p.m. on April 4. A family friend went to the home and called police after finding the child wasn’t breathing, according to earlier reports.

Denise Wilder and Wilder's children had been staying at the home while her parents were out of the country, according to News 10. She was the only adult present with her children when emergency personnel responded and found the girl dead, according to the Placer County District Attorney's Office. 

Denise Wilder was arrested on suspicion of murder in April, , pending autopsy results and the cause of death. She was on June 15.

It was also released in court today that on June 4, Wilder was admitted to the hospital with a blood alcohol level of 0.32 and tested positive for cocaine, according to News 10. 

Wilder's next court date is August 10 at 8:30 a.m. Hon. John Cosgrove said Wilder must also undergo substance abuse treament as condition of bail.
