Blue Oaks Elementary School Named California Distinguished School

Blue Oaks was the only elementary school in Roseville to receive this honor.

The California Department of Education recently released its 2012 California Distinguished Schools list and named as of one of 387 distinguished schools in the state.

Schools must meet certain eligibility criteria to be invited to apply for the honor. This includes the school’s Academic Performance Index and designated federal and state accountability measures based on the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

The CDE invites schools to apply for Distinguished School honors, with an application process that includes a written application with a comprehensive description of two of the school’s signature practices, and a county-led site validation review process to validate the implementation of those practices.

“The schools we are recognizing today demonstrate the incredible commitment of California's teachers, administrators, and school employees to provide a world-class education to every student, in spite of the financial hardships facing our state and our schools,” said Tom Torlakson, state superintendent of public instruction. “Their dedication is inspiring, and I applaud and admire their passion and persistence.”
