Blog: Scrabble Tea Time Party

Local vendors and vintage appeal help pull this Scrabble Tea Time Party together.

Cherry Kissed Events, located in Northern California, is a collaboration of two best friends who decided to use their creativity and fun personalities to create beautiful events for their friends and families.  Now it has become something much more.  Nicole and Kendall have been friends for 6 years and started their business one year ago. They are off to a great start.  This last fall they put together a Garden Tea Party.  Here is how it turned out:

Nicole and I had a chance to do a grand photo shoot inspired by a garden tea party. We have been planning a Tea Time photo shoot for some time now and finally got to put all our items and ideas together with several great vendors. Nicole’s family had left her various great pieces of china and a dear friend of our started a vintage rental company.  We were so excited to use some of her pieces along with Nicole’s China.

We use Pinterest religiously so we immediately started looking for inspiration and making a board of ideas.  We chose the luscious colors of deep purple, gold, pink, and green as our main color palate for the day.  That helped colors in our China pieces pop, and gave us an opportunity to recycle some craft items we loved that would blend well. Inspired by Old World tradition, we incorporated old frames, bunting, burlap, and glass bottles for an added vintage feel. We topped it off with some antique books and frames.  Adding the rich flavor of the fall season we included items like the mini pumpkins that we brushed with gold paint and some fall leaves.

Our neighbor's adorable back yard was just the right spot to pick for our location.  It came with some of its own interesting vintage pieces like an old bench, chairs, and a wheel barrel.  We were also pleasantly surprised by the presence of many butterflies and a beautiful sunny day.

We decided to keep our flowers simple, buying wild flowers from Trader Joe's and hand picking extra foliage from the neighborhood which made the most beautiful arrangements.

We knew we wanted a dainty pink cake (with mini bunting we made from scraps of paper), sparkling cupcakes, and some tasty jams and buttery scones to bring about the perfect feel for the day, enticing the most discriminating to relax and join in.  The best part of our day was at the end of the shoot when we delighted in inviting our friends and vendors to join us and partake in all the yummy food.

We knew that no tea party would be complete without some games, so what better way to enjoy the beautiful day and our closest friends then by playing a game of scrabble?!

We had so much fun with this photo shoot and it was huge success. Since then, we have been getting more and more requests for tea parties.  Let us know if you want us to throw one for you as well!
