Two Competing Debt Plans

The "Gang of six" in the Senate has proposed a plan, (which the President is in favor of).

The House has passed their own plan.

Both would allow an increase in the debt ceiling, making it possible for us to keep paying our bills - and continue to rack up huge debt.  (Currently, the U.S. government spends $200 billion more each month than we take in in taxes.)
