Heidi Joulios, Author of Color My Coral

Appearing at Westfield Galleria Mall in Roseville to

Educate Youth About the Effects of Pollution on Coral Reefs

Dixon, CA - Heidi Joulios, Author and illustrator of Color My Coral, and her whimsy and wacky oceanic friends will lead children through a fun, energetic and colorful presentation about coral reef bleaching and pollution. Heidi Joulios will appear at the Westfield Galleria Mall in Roseville on Saturday, June 15th at 4:00 pm. Learning Express Toys is hosting this event in the Center Court of the mall.

Color My Coral is Heidi’s newest book on water pollution and coral reefs and follows Snow Cones Are Forever a children’s book about global warming. Come out and meet Heidi and the Color My Coral characters. The event will kick off with Heidi's entertaining reading of Color My Coral and continue with time for book signing and visiting with Heidi.

“My vision is to inspire change, one book at a time,” Heidi Joulios explained. “I write and illustrate storybooks that capture imagination using whimsy, humor and surprise, while informing and inspiring young readers about challenging topics.”

Heidi has been touring schools and libraries in Northern California, educating students about pollution and marine life with her no cost” educational assemblies featuring Color My Coral.

“Greatly impressed by Heidi’s presentation,” Woodland Public Library Youth Services Librarian Cara Baker reported. “The kids were intrigued and attentive. Heidi was gracious and hands-on and worked hard to make her presentation relatable. A success all around!”

Color My Coral is a children’s storybook that takes readers on an adventurous dive into “turbulent seawaters” for a “deeper” look at the impact of pollution on coral reef habitat. Readers follow Loretta the Crab as she mistakes human garbage for “treasure” and injures the coral when she brings it home for decoration. This book also contains many features that enhance literacy development. Kids are captivated by the book’s whimsical characters and delightful storyline while developing a valuable connection to the ocean and some of the marvelous creatures living there. It’s a compelling tale that can lead to discussions about solutions to water pollution with children. Heidi created an Activity Coloring Book as a perfect companion to the storybook, filled with fun coloring pages and aquatic facts.
