Here are the top stories today in Roseville:

  1. A joint operation between the City of Roseville and Placer County, the Placer Emergency Rental Assistance Program, received a top honor from the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) for its efforts addressing housing difficulties caused by the pandemic. The CSAC awards recognize the most innovative programs developed and implemented by counties in California. “By cutting through the red tape, Roseville and Placer County were able to provide a critical lifeline when residents and landlords needed it most,” explained Roseville Housing Manager Trisha Isom. The program also received help from local partners like The Placer Community Foundation, 211 Placer, AMI Housing and Sierra Community House. (What’s Happening in Roseville)
  2. If you’re thinking about a visit to the legendary Pebble Creek neighborhood in Rocklin to check out the 131 beautifully decorated houses there, you can get a little preview with this video segment from the always-merry Mark S. Allen of ABC News 10. This jolly neighborhood has been a local holiday treasure for 28 years, now revisited by folks who remember it from their childhood years. Be sure to bring a canned food donation for one of the many receptacles along the route! (ABC 10)
  3. A Rocklin dog treat company has changed its operations to ensure that your eco-conscious pup can enjoy a snack with zero guilt about his environmental pawprint. Campfire Treats now uses shipping materials that are plastic-free, 100% biodegradable and fully recyclable. “With our expanding business, we became increasingly frustrated about the amount of waste we were creating when sending out deliveries to our customers,” explained the company’s President and Co-founder, Marko Wittich. (Roseville Today)
  4. Placer County has a new district boundaries map! The map was adopted by the Placer County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday and will go into effect on January 13th, 2022. The months long process of redrawing districts based on the newest Census data was a collaborative effort between local government and county residents. You can view the new map on the county’s website. (Gold Country Media and Placer County Press Release)
  5. Water is on the minds of every Californian – and in the news – as we revel in this week’s rain and snowfall, while still keeping an anxious eye on reservoir levels. It was on the minds of our state water regulators yesterday as they voted to advance a major new water storage project. The California Water Commission’s action essentially keeps the Sites Reservoir Project eligible for approximately $800 million in taxpayer funds should the project go forward. The project would be the first new reservoir created in California since 1979, flooding a coastal valley in Glen and Colusa counties, and would potentially create enough water storage to supply up to three million households.
