City Hosts National Softball Championships
The Girl's 14 A Western National Softball Championships start Aug. 1 in Roseville and is expected to be the largest tourism event hosted in the city.

The will be hosting the Girl's 14 A Western National Softball Championships at several area parks, beginning Monday, Aug. 1.
With more than 80 teams expected to participate from the western U.S., it is expected to be the largest tourism event Roseville has hosted to date. The more than 3,000 visitors are expected to infuse more than $3 million into the local economy.
Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 7p.m. on Monday, Aug. 1. Play begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 and continues through the championship game at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7. Residents may want to avoid during the opening ceremonies due to the large crowds.
Participating teams are traveling from Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Colorado and other parts of California. More than 1,200 players and 2,000 parents will be in attendance for the week-long event. Every hotel in Roseville is booked for this entire week, the city reports.
Roseville hosted National Championship softball events in 2007 and again in 2010, but never with this many teams. In 2010, 41 teams participated and booked more than 2,500 room nights.
