City to Install Two New Electronic Message Signs

The signs will display emergency, traffic and road construction information. There are currently seven signs in Roseville.

Roseville residents may notice new electronic message signs being installed in two areas of Roseville this spring.

The City of Roseville Public Works Department will be installing two new signs — one facing east-bound Baseline Road traffic between Fiddyment Road and Crowder Lane and the other facing south-bound Foothills Boulevard traffic between Vineyard Road and Enterprise Way.

The signs will display information such as:

  • Emergency information
  • Road maintenance and construction activities
  • Special events affecting traffic conditions or route choices
  • Traffic-related public service announcements

Construction is expected to take one or two months with minimal impact to the traveling public. The two changeable message signs are fully funded by Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality grant funds and a developer-paid Traffic Mitigation Fee match, according to The City of Roseville.

  1. Atlantic Street near Yosemite Street
  2. Washington Boulevard near Junction Boulevard
  3. Riverside Avenue near Cirby Way
  4. Galleria Boulevard near Highway 65
  5. Sierra College Boulevard near East Roseville Parkway
  6. Douglas Boulevard near Professional Drive
  7. Sunrise Avenue near Kensington Drive

According to the City of Roseville, in 2005 the Roseville City Council adopted the Intelligent Transportation System Master Plan, which outlines the technology, infrastructure and funding necessary for optimizing the city’s roadway capacity, including changeable message signs and the City’s Traveler Information webpage, www.roseville.ca.us/traffic.
