Here are the top stories today in Roseville:

  1. Roseville Police wants you to be aware of the impacts of distracted driving. Did you know that more than 8% of fatalities are the result of distracted driving? And cell phones aren't the only culprit. Fishing for the fry that fell between the seat and the console qualifies! Check out this article from Roseville Today to read tips from the Roseville PD on how to minimize distractions. (That fry wasn't going to taste good after the journey between the seats anyway. Let it go.)
  2. Roseville Parkway got a new fountain on Thursday, though some might call it a gusher instead. The fire hydrant at Roseville Parkway and Pleasant Grove Road met with a smashing demise and created quite a spectacle. (CBS Sacramento)
  3. Lots of storms and wet weather means lots of new occupants at the animal shelters in the area. The Placer SPCA has some ideas for keeping your pets safe and at home during weather emergencies. The group is also waiving adoption fees this month. (placer.ca.gov)
  4. At its March 14 meeting, the Rocklin City Council took a look at quarterly financial results. The council also recognized the Arts Task Force Members and reviewed the 2022 Fire Department's Annual Report. Check out the details in this article from rocklin.ca.us.
  5. Leading women's fashion retailer maurices is opening at the Galleria today! "The fashion brand offers size-inclusive clothing that celebrates feel good fashion for real life™." Head in and chat with one of the stylists and walk out feeling like a million bucks. (Patch)

Today in Roseville:

"The event will showcase a range of garden-inspired projects, as well as live talks from our knowledgeable garden experts. In addition, some of our preferred vendors in soil, plants, outdoor living, and other related areas will be on hand to provide helpful tips and advice." (8:00 AM)
  • The Mood Swings - Dani Joy & Perry Stauffer will be at the Strum Shop on Vernon Street in Roseville. (4:30 PM)

From my notebook:

  • Grab a Placer Explorer Pass and "find your fun in Placer County!" You'll find unique ideas for fun in Colfax, Auburn, Lincoln, Newcastle, Loomis, Rocklin, Granite Bay, Roseville, Foresthill and Dutch Flat. You can earn a sticker, a hat and even a mug just by getting out and finding new adventures in Placer! Neat.
  • "In honor of Robert G. Smith, a long-time Lion's Club member and Sacramento deputy sheriff who courageously fought his battle with Parkinson's disease, the 'COP' Walk is a festive opportunity to pull out your sneakers, stroll with old and new friends alike, learn from vendors, share lunch, and sport your 2023 Cop Walk t-shirt (included in early registration fee)." The event takes place on April 1.
  • "Check out ASL Storytime 10:00am Wednesdays at the Downtown Library! Do you have a deaf, hard of hearing, or signing child?
