Crime Watch: Thieves Kick in Doors in Residential Burglaries

Suspicious Dumpster Fire
At 4:45 a.m. on Jan. 16, the Roseville Fire Department responded to and extinguished a dumpster fire on Sierra College Boulevard near Roseville Parkway. A red BMW four-door sedan occupied by three white male adults, ages 18-20 years, was seen leaving the lot as the fire started. Fortunately the fire didn't spread beyond the dumpster.

Sometime between Jan. 22/23, someone shot windows at Sierra Gardens Elementary School with a BB gun.

Overnight Jan. 20/21, someone tampered with a water flow device at an apartment complex at 1098 Woodcreek Oaks Blvd., causing water to flood the parking lot.
Catalytic Converter Thefts:
Catalytic converters were stolen from two vehicles, a Hyundai SUV and a Nissan pickup, in the Taylor Road/I80 Park and Ride lot during the day on Jan. 19. Roseville Police continue to provide extra patrol to frequently hit areas and to work on this regional problem with other law enforcement agencies.
Commercial Burglaries:
Between 7 p.m. Jan. 18 and 8 a.m. Jan. 19, someone broke the front door of a sports store in the 900 block of Pleasant Grove Blvd. and took money from the cash register and the office.
At 3 a.m. on Jan. 19, someone smashed the front window of a store in the 1800 block of Douglas Boulevard and took the bolted floor safe. An alarm activated and officers responded, but the burglar was gone before officers arrived.
At 8 a.m. on Jan. 22, a massage business in the 1400 block of Eureka Road was burglarized. The unknown suspect entered by breaking a back window, and took a safe. The suspect fled before officers arrived. A suspect seen on video surveillance appears to be an African-American male with a small build, with dark hair, a mustache, goatee and sideburns, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, jeans or long sweat pants, and athletic shoes.
Between 6 p.m. Jan. 22 and 9 a.m. Jan. 23, someone smashed a front window and burglarized a restaurant in the 5100 block of Foothills Blvd. A small amount of cash was taken.
Residential Burglaries:
Monday, Jan. 16
Between 7:15 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Jan. 16, someone kicked the front door of a home in the 1600 block of Vernon Street and took a laptop and an e-reader. A man was seen loitering near the victim's house in the morning, described as a white male adult, about 20 years old, clean-shaven, riding a mountain bike.
Overnight Jan. 16/17, someone kicked the door of a house in the 900 block of Trehowell in a possible burglary attempt. No one got in and nothing was taken.
Between 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 16 and 2 p.m. on Jan. 19, while the resident was away, someone tried to pry an apartment door in the 1900 block of Quail Ridge West. Fortunately no entry was made.
Saturday, Jan. 21
Between 11 a.m. on January 21 and 7 p.m. on January 22, someone kicked the back door of a home in the 200 block of Folsom Road while the owner was away, and took electronic items.
Between 9:45 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. on Jan. 21, someone smashed a window in the back of a house in the 1100 block of Dartmouth Avenue and rummaged through the house, taking a jewelry box and other small items. A suspicious person was reported on the same block at about 10 a.m., knocking on doors and asking to buy gasoline. The suspicious person was described as a tall (over 6'0") white male with dark hair and sideburns. He was driving a white or silver older sedan.
Monday, Jan. 23
At about 1:48 a.m. on Jan. 23, someone kicked the front door of a house in the 1300 block of Ridgecrest Way. The would-be burglar didn't go into the house, possibly scared off by the alarm sounding. No suspects were seen.
A home in the 500 block of Atkinson Street was burglarized during the afternoon of Jan. 23.
Vehicle-Related Crime:
Between 10 p.m. Jan. 15 and 7 a.m. Jan. 16, someone got into an unlocked car in the 1800 block of Monterey Pines Drive and took an iPod and the garage door opener.
Between 5 p.m. on Jan. 15 and noon on Jan. 16, someone went into an unlocked Honda Accord in an apartment complex parking lot at 1451 Rocky Ridge Drive and took a portable GPS navigation unit and some tools.
Between 6 p.m. Jan. 15 and 10 a.m. Jan. 16, someone stole tools from the back seat of an unlocked pickup in the 1200 block of Fuhrman Way.
Overnight Jan. 17/18, someone broke into a vehicle in the 1700 block of Magenta Drive, taking CDs and paperwork.
Between 6 and 7 p.m. on Jan. 18, someone smashed the window of a vehicle parked in a fitness center in the 300 block of North Sunrise, and took the expensive purse the victim had left on the front passenger seat, covered with a blanket. A suspicious person was seen in the parking lot at the time, an Hispanic male in his 20s or 30s wearing a flannel shirt and riding a BMX-type bicycle.
Between 1:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Jan. 19, someone smashed a vehicle window in the 500 block of Oak Street and took phone chargers, loose change and other small items.
Overnight Jan. 19/20, someone tampered with a locked vehicle in the 8900 block of Rising Mist Way, forcing a window down and putting an oily substance on the gear shift.
Between 10 p.m. on Jan. 20 and 8 a.m. on Jan. 21, someone smashed the window of an SUV parked in a driveway in the 1200 block of Cresthaven Drive, and took laptop computers and stereo equipment.
