Father-Son Duo Arrested on Suspicion of Burglary

At 4:14 a.m. Aug. 12, an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation near Douglas Boulevard and Sunrise Avenue, and noticed several items of suspected stolen property in the car.

Officers investigated and found a car that had been broken into in a hotel parking lot in the 100 block of North Sunrise Ave. They contacted the owner of the car, who checked and confirmed that several bags of newly purchased items from the mall, a Garmin GPS and a laptop computer had been taken. Officers recovered the stolen property from the suspects' car and returned it to the victims.

A 61-year-old man and his 30-year-old son, both of Sacramento, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property, conspiracy and possession of burglar's tools.

Suspected DUI Teen Driver Leads Police on Short Pursuit

At 12:17 a.m. Aug. 13, a resident called police to report a suspicious vehicle in the Diamond Woods area. Officers responded and spotted a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner. The officer signaled for it to stop, and the driver instead drove away, leading officers on a short pursuit before yielding on Diamond Woods Circle near Arrow Wood Lane.

The driver, an 18-year-old male from Roseville, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, evading police and other related charges.

Catalytic Converter Thefts:

At about 5:50 a.m. Aug. 12, a resident of Munden Court heard her vehicle alarm go off. She went outside and saw a primer-purple 1990s model Honda Civic four-door sedan speeding away from the area. Later that morning, she discovered the catalytic converter missing from her Toyota 4Runner SUV.

Over the past week, Roseville Police report that thieves have stolen catalytic converters from vehicles on Misty Wood, Wood Oak Court, Liberty Court, Revere Drive, Carbury Way, Lowdan Lane and Badovinac Drive in north central Roseville.

Over the past week, catalytic converter thieves have also stolen from vehicles on Turnberry Lane, Arncliffe Way, Paseo Penasco (along with the vehicle's luggage rack), Dickinson Drive, Shenencock Way and Atwell Street in west Roseville.

Purse Snatch at Sutter Roseville 

At 11 p.m. Aug. 10, an employee in the parking garage of Sutter Roseville Medical Center set her purse on the ground momentarily while she was opening the trunk of her car, and an unknown male grabbed it, got into a waiting car and drove away. The suspect was a white male in his 20s or 30s with blond hair. The driver of his getaway car was a white female, also in her 20s or 30s with curly blonde hair. They drove away in a red 2007-2008 Jeep Cherokee Wagoneer.

Thursday, July 26

Attempted garage burglary:  Between July 26 and Aug. 5, someone made a pry mark in a garage door on Springwood Court. No one got in and nothing was taken.

Monday, Aug. 6

Garage burglarized: Between 6 a.m. and 10:20 p.m. Aug. 6, someone broke into a storage unit in a garage in the 200 block of Sharp Circle, and took camping equipment.

Tuesday, Aug. 7

Garage burglarized:  Between 9 p.m. Aug. 7 and 7:30 a.m. Aug. 8, someone entered the open garage of a home in the 3500 block of Apollo Circle and stole three expensive bicycles. The resident had forgotten to close the garage door at night.

Thursday, Aug. 9

Between 5:40 and 5:50 p.m. Aug. 9, a resident of the 300 block of B Street left her apartment for a few minutes, leaving the door unlocked. While she was gone, someone went into her apartment and stole cash and a laptop computer.

Saturday, Aug. 11

Between 9 and 11 p.m. Aug. 11, someone pried the door of an apartment in the 300 block of B Street while the resident was out, and took a stereo and a cable TV box.

Commercial Burglaries:

Between 8 p.m. August 8 and 3 a.m. August 9, someone pried the doors and broke into two office suites in an office complex in the 3700 block of Douglas Blvd., and took computer equipment. The burglar(s) also tried to pry the doors of other suites in the same building, but didn't get into them.

Vehicle-Related Crime: 

Monday, Aug. 6

Between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 6, someone stole a silver 2008 Scion mini-van from behind a building in the 200 block of Harding Blvd.

Tuesday, Aug. 7

Between 6 p.m. Aug. 7 and 3 p.m. Aug. 8, someone stole a portable GPS navigation device and a bag of soccer equipment from an unlocked car on Silver Poplar Court.

Overnight Aug. 7/8, someone broke the window of a car parked at a hotel in the 100 block of North Sunrise Avenue and took a laptop computer from the floorboard of the back seat, and a substantial amount of cash from the glovebox.

Wednesday, Aug. 8

Between 12:30 and 6:30 p.m. Aug. 8, someone got into a locked car parked at the water park in the 1800 block of Taylor Road, and took an expensive purse with all its contents, including the victim's checkbook and ID.

Between 11:30 p.m. Aug. 8 and noon Aug. 9, someone broke into two cars in an apartment complex parking lot in the 1400 block of Kingswood Drive, and stole spare change from one and music CDs from the other.

Thursday, Aug. 9

Between 11 p.m. Aug. 9 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 10, someone smashed the windows of two vehicles parked in an apartment complex parking lot at 1451 Rocky Ridge Drive and took valuable items that had been left on the seats, including a laptop computer and a bag of medical equipment.

Between 10:30 a.m. Aug. 9 and 3 p.m. Aug. 11, someone stole a white 1994 Honda Accord two-door from Sterling Court.

Friday, Aug. 10

Between 5:30 and 8:10 p.m. Aug. 10, someone broke the windows of four vehicles in a store parking lot in the 900 block of Pleasant Grove Blvd. The damage may have been done with a bb or pellet gun. Nothing was taken.

Saturday, Aug. 11

At 9:15 p.m. Aug. 11, a resident parked in a restaurant in the 1500 block of Eureka Road and left his iPhone on the center console. When he returned approximately an hour later, someone had smashed the vehicle window and stole his iPhone.

At 9:20 p.m. Aug. 11, a local resident went to a fitness center in the 300 block of North Sunrise, and upon arrival put his wallet and cell phone in the center console of his car. He returned a half-hour later and found that someone had broken a side window, reached in and stole his property.

Thefts: 

Between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. Aug. 5, someone stole a skill saw from the front yard of a home in the 800 block of Elisa Way. Between 1 and 8 a.m. Aug. 8, someone cut a chain and stole a new generator, still in the box, from a flatbed trailer at the same location.

Between 6 and 9 p.m. Aug. 8, someone took an unsecured bicycle from a driveway in the 100 block of South Lincoln St. The stolen bike is a white Silver Beach cruiser with custom fenders.

Between 10 p.m. Aug. 8 and 5:45 a.m. Aug. 9, someone got onto the roof of a retail complex in the 1000 block of Sunrise Avenue and stole copper from several air conditioning units.

Between 6:45 a.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 9, someone stole a gray Mongoose bicycle from a front porch in the 800 block of Micro Court.

Between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Aug. 10, a bicycle that had been left unsecured leaning against a tree by the Martha Riley Library was stolen. The stolen bike is a blue and red Trek 220 mountain bike.

Sometime before the evening of Aug. 11, someone stole several solar lights from a front yard in the 1700 block of Kent Street.

Between 6 a.m. Aug. 11 and 6 a.m. Aug. 12, someone stripped copper wire from light posts along Market Street south of Hornby Lane, causing approximately $10,000 in loss to local rate-payers.
