Crime Watch: Fights Involve Knife, Tire Iron, Car Thefts at Gyms

Victim Cut with Knife in Fight

Officers responded to an assault that occurred at 10:15 p.m. on Aug. 9 at an apartment in the 1400 block of Rocky Ridge Drive. The 23-year-old male resident, who was allegedly under the influence of drugs, attacked a friend who was visiting him, and cut him with a knife.  The victim drove himself to the emergency room for treatment of his injuries, and police were notified. Officers contacted the suspect as he was driving away from the scene, and arrested him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of prescription narcotics for sale, and driving under the influence of drugs.

Man Hit in Face with Tire Iron During Fight

At about 1:45 a.m. Aug. 6, officers responded to a fight among several people in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 700 Sunrise Avenue. One of the men in the fight was hit in the face with a tire iron. He declined medical attention and did not want the unknown suspects prosecuted.

Have You Seen These Suspects?

At 5:35 a.m. Aug. 5, a resident saw someone breaking into a vehicle on Mandalay Court and chased the suspect off.  Officers responded and searched also, but were unable to locate the suspect. Two vehicles in the court had been broken into.  The suspects were described as a white female, 18-21 years old with brown hair, and a Hispanic male with dark hair, driving a newer dark blue two-door sedan.

Fitness Center Car Burglaries

Vehicle burglaries were reported in the parking lot of fitness centers and in the 1300 block of Ridgecrest Way.

Police Catch Burglary in Progress

At 9:44 a.m. Aug. 1, officers responded to a burglary in progress in the 100 block of Duranta Street. The suspect, described as a black male teenager, cut a window screen and entered the house, then was seen running out of the house carrying a video game console and got into a waiting white Ford two-door sedan.  The burglary is under investigation.
