Customers in Idle with Rising Sun Engines

Car maintenance can be a costly situation when a part needs replaced, but even more costly when the paid-for parts are never delivered. Consumers across the United States tell BBB that after ordering used auto parts from Rising Sun Engines, they experience difficulty receiving the paid-for merchandise.

The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers to use caution when doing business with Rising Sun Engines in a recently issued press release.
More than 100 consumers have lodged complaints with BBB after they allegedly fail to receive paid-for merchandise from the company. In other cases, consumers allege that they received auto parts, but that the parts were defective or not what was ordered.

The company has not responded to more than 100 complaints lodged with BBB. However, some consumers do receive a response from the company in which they are offered a refund or the parts are shipped.

An Oroville man told BBB he received a refund of $500 after paying $750 for a part he did not receive. “Even if it is a restocking fee they took out, nothing ever exchanged hands except for my money,” said the man.

BBB offers the following tips for those wishing to purchase goods online or over the telephone:

Check the company out. Visit necal.bbb.org to view complaint history, company ownership information and licensing.

Use a credit card when possible. Credit cards offer more protection than cash, checks and money orders.

Ask questions. Find out how long shipping will take, if the company charges restocking fees and what refund policies are in place.

Know your rights. Under FTC’s Mail Order Rule, a seller has 30 days to ship ordered products to a buyer unless otherwise specified at the time of purchase. If the seller cannot ship within the 30 day period, the seller must notify the buyer in writing of the delay, and give the option of waiting, or having the money returned within seven days.
