CYT Sacramento Presents Fiddler On The Roof

The Christian Youth Theater (CYT) is proud to present Fiddler On The Roof. Winner of nine Tony

Awards when this musical debuted in 1964, Fiddler on the Roof is the brainchild of Broadway

legends, Jerome Robbins and Harold Prince; songwriters, Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick; and

book writer, Joseph Stein.

Touching audiences worldwide with its humor, warmth and honesty, this universal show is a staple of the

musical theatre canon.

Tickets are $6.00 for groups of 10 or more for special school day shows and other ticket prices are

$14.00 online and $16.00 at the door. The play will be held at Valley Springs Church located at 2401

Set in the little village of Anatevka in 1905, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five

daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his

daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing

anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof's universal theme

of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of

laughter, joy and sadness. With iconic and beloved songs such as "Sunrise, Sunset," "If I Were a Rich

Man" and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," and more, Fiddler on the Roof is the perfect mix of audience-

pleasing humor and heart.

Christian Youth Theater (CYT) is a not-for-profit organization which offers after school

theater arts classes to children 4-18. It’s first Sacramento affiliate is established within the Roseville

community. Classes offered include , dance, voice, drama comedy Improv, stage make up, sketch

writing, back stage and many more. Children participating in the classes have the opportunity to

audition for a musical production. During this show run, CYT Sacramento is helping two Louisiana

affiliates, CYT Layfayette and CYT Baton Rouge, both were greatly impacted by the recent

flooding. Families sustained damage to their homes and lost everything. CYT Sacramento will

be collecting Target and Home Depot gift cards to help them get back to normal with purchases

Fiddler On The Roof runs from October 28th through November 5th with two special school day

performances October 28th, and November 4th, Friday at 10:00 a.m. Special school day show tickets

are $6.00 for groups of 10 or more. Other performances include: Friday Oct 28th 7:00 p.m., Saturday

Oct 29th, 2:00pm Thursday , Nov 4th 7:00 p.m., Friday, Nov 5th 2:00pm.
