We are looking at a some cooler temperatures for the next couple of days - yay! Today's expected high is 84 degrees with an overnight low of 53. Winds should be in the 5-10 mph range and humidity should be about 46% during the day.

- Roseville Police responded to a call yesterday morning on New England Drive to find two people injured, one from self-inflicted knife wounds. The officers were able to secure the knife after several minutes and started life-saving procedures on the person. Despite these measures, the person died at the scene. The other person involved sustained non-life-threating injuries, according to the police. The incident was still under investigation at press time yesterday. (CBS 13)
- A man killed in a Citrus Heights neighborhood last week has been identified as Roseville resident Pavanpal Singh Paintal, 34. Paintal was found with four gunshot wounds near Lichen and Carmelwood Drives after shots were reported at about 6:30 pm on Thursday. Citrus Heights Police, and later medics, attempted life-saving measures but Paintal died from his injuries while in the hospital. Detectives investigating the case were able to identify others involved in the shooting. So far no information has been released on whether anyone is in custody related to this case. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Citrus Heights Police Department crime tip line at 916-727-5524. (Subscription: Sacramento Bee)
- Raise a glass to The Monk's Cellar Brewery & Public House for their great showing at the 2021 California Craft Brewers Cup (CCBC) last Saturday. Its "Hop Shoot" took first in the Belgian & French Style Ale category and its "Biere Blanche" took 2nd in the Belgian-Style Witbier category. The CCBC is the largest beer competition in California. - While the Air Quality Index forecasts unhealthy (red) air for Roseville through the rest of the week, air quality can vary during the day with some periods of more moderate (yellow) air quality. If you really need to get that daily run in, be sure to check airnow.gov for real-time air quality throughout the day. Or, as Jamie Arno of the Sacramento Air Quality Management District said in a recent interview, "The most important thing to remember is that smoke is unhealthy to breathe. Your nose is your best monitor. If you smell smoke, you are definitely breathing it." (KCRA3 and AirNow)
- Roseville and Placer County continue to rebound economically, according to the latest statistics from the California Economic Development Department. Placer County's current unemployment rate sits at 5.3%. The Sacramento-Roseville-Arden-Arcade region has added 33,600 jobs this last fiscal year (July 2020-July 2021) for an increase of 3.5 %. Job growth was seen in many sectors of the economy, like construction and retail/hospitality, with only government jobs showing a decline. (Roseville Today)

- The Roseville High School Music Boosters want you to "make dinner a selfless act" tonight by grabbing your grub from Chipotle at 4200 Thrive Drive. Bring the flier (print out or save to your phone), show it to the cashier and 33% of the proceeds from your order will support the music programs at Roseville High. 5:00 pm-9:00 pm
- Our fearless leaders in the Roseville City Council are meeting tonight. You can join them in person in the Council Chambers at 311 Vernon Street or watch the proceedings from the comfort of your home via the City's YouTube channel. Check out the agenda on the Council's webpage. 6:00pm
- Rockin' Jump Trampoline Park clears out the big kids and give the little guys a chance to bounce for a couple of hours on Rockin' Tots Wednesdays. The parents can join the fun on the trampolines or use the time to visit while the ankle-biters work off some energy. One parent and one child (up to six years of age) costs $15, with $3 for each additional child. Rockin' Tots also holds sessions at 8:00 am-10:00 am on Saturdays, and at 9:00 am-11:00 am on Sundays. 9:00 am-11:00 am
- Two great bands are hitting the stage at The Fig Tree Coffee, Art & Music Lounge tonight. The Rise will rock the house from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm, then The Studebakers will serenade you with favorite melodies from the 20s, 30s and 40s. 6:00 pm
