  1. Having fun in California will require a little more effort starting September 20 - at least at large crowd venues. The California Department of Public Health (CDHP) announced on Wednesday that proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or a negative test, will be needed for admittance to indoor events with more than 1,000 people within the state. (KCRA Sacramento)
  2. Several popular Tahoe region campgrounds and state parks have banned wood and charcoal campfires for the rest of the recreational season. Bans on campfires in forest recreation areas have been a patchwork affair this season, with some districts and private run campgrounds imposing them, and others not. All open flames have been prohibited during Red Flag Alert days, when the conditions are most dangerous. The Sierra District of California State Parks superintendent Dan Canfield said "unless there is a major improvement in conditions,” the new ban will continue until December, 2021. (SFGate)
  3. Another tough decision has come down concerning how we Nor-Cal denizens balance wildfire safety and enjoy the beautiful outdoor places that we love. Citing the extreme fire danger demonstrated by the swift-moving Caldor Fire, the National Forest System has instituted an emergency closure of all land, roads and trails within the El Dorado National Forest. The order went into effect on Tuesday and will stay in place through September 30, 2021. The closure is expected to protect the public from fire and smoke danger while also facilitating better access for emergency responders in the high risk area. (Sierra Rec Magazine)
  4. In better news, there is a place where you can spend one whole day partying old-school style for a good cause. Rocklin's Quarry Park Amphitheater is hosting eight totally awesome 70s and 80s cover bands on two stages on September 5th this Labor Day weekend. The UC Davis Burn Institute will receive $2 from every ticket sold for Rockin' the Quarry. Throwback attire is encouraged to add to the retro vibe! (Roseville Today)
