Eureka School District Names New Superintendent
Linda Rooney will assume her role July 1. She is currently the deputy superintendent of educational services for the Rocklin Unified School District.

The Eureka Union School District board of trustees announced that Linda Rooney has been selected as district superintendent.
Rooney is currently the deputy superintendent of educational services for the Rocklin Unified School District. She will begin her new role with the Eureka district, which serves kindergarten through eighth-grade Roseville and Granite Bay students, July 1.
Until then, Rooney will join many community and school events in each of the districts throughout the upcoming months. She will work closely with Interim Superintendent Paul Carras to ensure a smooth and seamless transition into the 2012-13 school year.

“In these challenging times, the Eureka Union School District finds it necessary to have a leader with the experience to deal with difficult issues, as well as lead and inspire our dedicated staff and community," said Eureka Union School District Board President Kristie Greiss in a news release. "We are confident that Mrs. Rooney demonstrates not only these attributes but many others that will continue to maintain Eureka Union School District’s reputation as the top performing district in the greater Sacramento area, and one of the top performing districts in all of California."
Rooney was selected through a national executive search conducted by Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates. to create a Leadership Profile Assessment to guide the process. The board of trustees conducted comprehensive confidential interviews of selected candidates, intensive professional reference verifications and background reviews. The process also included a visitation to the Rocklin Unified School District and interviews by two Eureka School District board members.

“Linda Rooney has been a tremendous asset to our district," said Rocklin Unified School District Superintendent Kevin Brown in a news release. "Her leadership has helped make RUSD one of the premier school districts in Northern California. We wish her well as she embarks on this new step in her leadership career in California’s public schools."
Rooney's career began as an elementary teacher in 1976, serving as a bilingual kindergarten teacher at Palm Avenue School in Wasco. She moved to the Pleasant Ridge Union School District in Grass Valley in 1978, where she served the district for the next 30 years, serving as a classroom teacher, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. She joined the Rocklin Unified School District in 2008 where she currently serves as Deputy Superintendent, Educational Services. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree and California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Chico and her Master of Arts degree and California Administrative Services Credential from California State University, Sacramento.
