Students Scare up a Good Time at 10th Annual Community Halloween Carnival
Roseville-At Granite Bay Montessori (GBM) students aren’t afraid to jump right in and create a family fun carnival this Halloween. The 10th annual event features a new set of games designed and built by middle school students, prizes donated by local businesses, food organized by parents, a silent auction, and a raffle for an iPad3, all designed to raise funds for Upper Elementary and Middle School students’ year-end field trips.
“The students work cooperatively to design and plan a community event that is fun for the whole family,” said GBM Director Andrea Smithson. “Not only do they get to enjoy this seasonal festival, but they also gain valuable skills throughout the planning process.”

Each year the Upper Elementary (4th-5th grades) and Middle School (6th-8th grades) classes plan an end-of-year field trip that provides an experiential learning opportunity. Teachers guide students through a year-long curriculum matching the destination, while students develop community-based fundraising activities to finance the trip so that all students are able to participate without out-of-pocket costs. Previous field trips have included the Ashland, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Yosemite, and Monterey.
WHO: The community is invited to enjoy and support Granite Bay Montessori students. Costumes encouraged!
