  1. Officers from our Roseville Police Department Honor Guard Unit are attending Police Week in Washington D.C. this week to participate in ceremonies with other Honor Guards from around the world and to pay respects to fallen officers. The team is able to attend this year thanks to a combination of donations, fundraising, and personal contributions. Today we observe Police Officers Memorial Day in the United States (traditionally scheduled for May, but moved this year) to pay respects to those officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. (Roseville Police Department)
  2. It seems like Red Bluff might be a good place to find yourself if you are ever lost. A Roseville man who was reported missing on October 13th showed up in a Red Bluff Starbucks on Thursday, where he was noticed looking "lost and confused." Red Bluff Police picked up "James" and took him back to the Police Department to wait for his family to arrive. The officers invited James to join their taser training, after which he received an honorary certificate. He was later safely reunited with his family. (Red Bluff Police Department)
  3. Our neighbors to the north are getting their own Trader Joe's this week with the opening of a new location on Rocklin Commons Drive just off of I-80. It will be the first new Sacramento area Trader Joe's to open in ten years. The ribbon-cutting is scheduled for October 22nd. (CBS Sacramento)
  4. It's no secret that Roseville, and South Placer County in general, is a great place to ride a bike. Many scenic paved bike trails and miles of on-street dedicated bike lanes make our area a safe and enjoyable place to get fresh air and exercise on two wheels (or more!). Learn more interesting facts about biking in the 'Ville and read about the highlights from last Saturday's Bike Fest in this great article. (Gold Country Media)
  5. Rocklin Police made several arrests and uncovered a cache of illegal drugs and stolen vehicles while serving a search warrant on a Rocklin residence on Thursday. A large quantity of fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, and mushrooms were found in a house that had been the subject of multiple complaints. The condition of the residence was deemed uninhabitable and red-tagged by Code Enforcement, displacing eight people who lived there. (CBS Sacramento)

Roseville Patch Notebook:

  • Where would we be with school crossing guards? Well, most of us wouldn’t have made it to adulthood without these everyday heroes. Thomas Jefferson School, the parent teacher club, Roseville City School District and the City of Roseville gathered recently to honor Jim Mather and his 15 years of service with a bench on the campus. Thank you, “Mr. Jim!” (Twitter)
  • Our California State Parks system is looking for local input to improve the trails in the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area. Weigh in with a quick online survey and/or tune in to a virtual public meeting on October 26th. (Facebook)
  • The Placer County Free Tax Prep program is looking for volunteers for the upcoming 2022 tax season. No experience? No problem! They will train you. (Facebook)
  • I have to admit, the main reason I follow Placer County on Instagram is for its Photo of the Week. This one makes me want to bundle into a cozy sweater with a cup of hot cider. Don't you just love living in Nor Cal? (Instagram)
  • Our Sacramento River Cats (AAA SF Giants affiliate) gave a shoutout to Rocklin native and SF Giants pitcher Logan Webb for his great showing in the MLB National League Division Series: “What is the fee to join the Logan Webb fan club and how do we become president?” I’d jump on that bandwagon.
