Family Rescued After Getting Stranded in American River
Nine rescue swimmers brought the family safely to shore.

OUTSIDE SACRAMENTO, CA -- A Sacramento family was rescued after getting stranded in the north fork of the American River near Auburn for more than four hours Saturday, KSLA-TV reported.
Officials said Anna Kolesnikov, two of her daughters and a nephew—as well as two others who tried to help them—were trapped on rocks in the middle of the river until a crew of nine rescue swimmers reached them and pulled them to shore with a rope.
The temperature was nearly 108 degrees that day and the extreme heat made the rescue more difficult.

“The fatigue of the rescuers and the folks helping out was definitely a big factor,” said Battalion Chief Mike Webb.
Kolesnikov said her family got trapped on large boulders after the water level rose suddenly while they were swimming.
