Here are the top five stories today in Roseville:

  1. For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to start your search for an adorable new companion is at Norcal Bully Breed Rescue, where Oliver!! the dog is waiting patiently. With help from our friends at Petfinder, Patch has compiled this week's list of animals available for adoption near you. Whether you're looking for cuddles or companionship, one of these animals could be the perfect fit for your family. (Roseville Patch)
  2. Say it isn't so! It's the final Trailer Bash of 2022 already?? On August 6 the All American Speedway presents the last trailer bash of the season benefitting the Placer Breast Cancer Foundation. Grandstands open at 5 p.m. with opening ceremonies starting around 6 p.m. All seats are general admission. (Speedway Digest)
  3. A fire broke out early Tuesday morning at Nortech Waste Facility on Fiddyment Road in Roseville. “A big part of the challenge was to remove the waste from the facility, pull it out into the parking lot and then be able to extinguish the garbage bag,” Cal Fire Public Nevada Yuba Placer Unit’s public information officer Mary Eldridge told Gold Country Media Tuesday morning. The fire was 100% contained before 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, but smoke had already drifted as far away as Lincoln. (Gold Country Media)
  4. City Councilmember Scott Alvord visited a few of the National Night Out events on Tuesday and is helping you live vicariously through lots of pictures that he has posted. The largest event was the huge combined Westpark Neighborhood Association and Fiddyment Farm Neighborhood Association event at Fred Festersen Park. They expected 700-ish neighbors throughout the evening. "It was uplifting to talk to so many neighbors who LOVE living here in the region and they completely agreed about the city being ranked the #1 Best Place to Live in California and 21st Best Place to Live in the Country," Alvord said. 5. The Placer County Association of REALTORS® is again partnering with local agencies to serve those in need through a summer food drive, running through Aug. 31. “As a mother and grandmother, I can not imagine the stress and anguish parents must experience when they are unsure of where or when the next meal will come for their children,” said Cheryl Keller, Placer County Association of REALTORS® Foundation president. “These efforts will help to serve those most in need throughout our community.” There are lots of places that you can take your donations! Donations can be delivered to the bins in the Placer County Association of REALTORS® lobby at 270 Technology Way, Suite 100, Rocklin. Canned food drop-off locations are also at Big Valley Mortgage, 3300 Lava Ridge Court, Suite 220; Fidelity National Title, 2200 Douglas Blvd., Suite 200; and Old Republic Title Company, 925 Highland Pointe Drive, Suite 150, Roseville.
