  1. A fast-moving wildfire broke out yesterday afternoon, causing fire crews from surrounding Placer and Nevada County areas to scramble into action and precipitating the evacuation of several neighborhoods north of Applegate and west of Colfax. Citing it's own rising costs due to "changing regulatory requirements" and maintaining their workforce, REU plans to implement the changes over two years beginning January 1, 2022. Three public meetings, two in-person and one virtual, are scheduled to inform the public about the increases and to answer questions.
