- Unfortunately, Placer County recorded its first pediatric influenza death. Public Health announced the death of a child under the age of 5 in the county who succumbed to the virus. It was also revealed that the child had other underlying health concerns. “It is not too late to get your flu shot, and this year’s shot appears to be a good match for circulating strains," said Interim Health Officer and Health and Human Services Director Dr. Rob Oldham. - Believe it or not, Roseville Today has a part 25 in its series on new California laws that may impact us in Roseville. Today the list includes "laws on wild pigs, domestic violence, teachers’ retirement, water diversion, tribal gaming, school safety and more."
- The United States Navy Band is coming to Rocklin! Whitney High School will host the band as part of its 2023 national tour. Rocklin is one of only 15 cities to boast the honor of having the band visit during this tour. The show is free, but may require advance reservations. Whitney will host the performance on March 19. (Roseville Today).
- Auburn is getting a new cidery. Ponderosa Cider Company will open in late March with a tasting room. The owner, Jon Hoag, estimates the cidery will have eight different ciders to sample. But you may not have to take the drive into Auburn to taste them. "We want to get our product out to every restaurant and tap house that will serve us,” Hoag said. (Gold Country Media)
