- A tragic drowning near Beals Point at Folsom Lake was confirmed as a California Highway Patrol helicopter located the body of a 49-year-old woman in the water early Sunday morning. A young boy at the park reported to State Park rangers that he had seen his aunt go under the water during an outing at the lake on Saturday. The boy was uninjured. The incident is under investigation. (Gold Country Media)
- We did it, Roseville! Readers of all ages came together to meet the 2021 Summer Reading Challenge by logging for over 1,000,000 reading minutes between June 1st and July 31st. Two thousand readers participated; 750 readers logged over five hours of reading each. Participants also wrote 609 reviews of what they were reading. The annual challenge is sponsored by the Friends of the Roseville Public Library. (City of Roseville Public Library)
- Looking to make a career change? Two free upcoming online events can help you do just that. The Get Hired! Workshop Event from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm on Wednesday, August 11th will offer sessions on effective job searches, LinkedIn, interviewing and more. The sessions are taught by industry professionals. There will also be resources for veterans, persons with disabilities, recent grads and other people with special considerations. Be sure to register ahead of time. (TriCountyJobFair/Job-Seeker-Tips.org) The Tri County Job Fair from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 19th will allow you to connect live with multiple hiring companies from all over the region. You can learn about the participating companies at their virtual hiring booths and have access one-on-one help from job center staff. Register early to ensure the best chance of success! - City of Roseville crews continue work this week to bring our city pedestrian curb ramps into compliance with current American with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Look for construction at the intersections of McLaren and Balboa Drive; McLaren and Champion Oaks Drive; and McLaren and Thistle Down Drive from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm through this Friday, August 6. Portions of the trail adjacent to the work will be closed while construction is in progress. (City of Roseville)
