Here are the top five stories in Roseville today:
- Hey! Wait! Where did all of that beautiful water that used to fill Folsom Lake go? As late as early June, Folsom lake was at 89% of capacity and 110% of normal for that time of year. Now, the lake seems to be going down faster than normal. It's not your imagination. Our lake was fuller than most of the reservoirs in California this year. Because of that, we are letting more out to help with things like keeping cool water flowing into the American River, keeping the delta saltwater-free and exporting water to Southern California, helping out other reservoirs that had shortages for those things. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation says it is planning to scale back release volumes heading into the end of summer. (KCRA Sacramento)
- Roseville native Neilson Powless finished 13th in the 2022 Tour de France Sunday! He was the top American finisher in the field of seven from the US that started the race. It was a huge jump up from last year when he finished in 43rd place. "On July 7, during the fifth stage, Powless just missed the podium but moved up to second overall, nearly taking the lead. He held on to second overall for the sixth stage before falling back to eighth overall in the seventh stage. Over the next couple of stages, Powless dropped back in the rankings to 20th before moving back up in the rankings to finish at 13th," according to ABC10. (ABC10.com KXTV)
- Kenna Mitchell of Loomis won in the NASCAR Late Model feature for the second consecutive time on Summer Classic MartinoWest Night at Roseville’s All American Speedway. Mitchell won her very first ever NASCAR Late Model feature at the track on July 9. All American Speedway returns Aug. 6 with the NASCAR Kids Night benefitting the NASCAR Foundation.
