- Folsom State Prison Correctional Lieutenant Matthew Robert Solem was arrested on Friday and charged with "one count of committing sex crimes with a child under the age of 14, and 13 counts of sex crimes against a child aged 14 or 15, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney's office." Solem has been employed at Folsom Prison since 2007. He is currently on leave. (ABC10)
- The man who tackled a referee at a youth soccer game in Roseville in October was sentenced. Vicente Robles Jr. was banned from further events and must take anger management courses, among other conditions of his sentence. "This case serves as a reminder of the importance of common decency, particularly at youth sporting events," the Placer County District Attorney's Office wrote in a statement. (ABC10)
- Kevin Kiley has officially won the House race to represent Rocklin, Roseville, Tahoe in Congress. "Kiley had 53% of the votes as of Tuesday afternoon, with 83% of the expected votes already tallied." His opponent, Kermit Jones, conceded the race Tuesday night. (Capital Public Radio News)
