Here are the top stories today in Roseville:

  1. Folsom police made a dramatic rescue on Monday. A person with disabilities was caught upstairs in a house that was on fire. Folsom police rescued the individual. Folsom Fire and Sac Metro responded and they were able to contain the fire to an upstairs bedroom in the residence. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. (ABC10.com KXTV)
  2. Tim Helea, of Roseville, will compete in this year’s Ping Disabled Open. Helea is a double amputee. The tournament is presented by the PGA and includes some of the top adaptive golfers in the country. The event is set for May. (KCRA Sacramento)
  3. One person died in a seven-car pileup on Interstate 80 near Newcastle on Saturday. The accident closed portions of the freeway for four hours. The victim was traveling in a Dodge Ram truck eastbound on the roadway when he made an unsafe lane change that caused the left rear of his vehicle to strike a bus in the number one lane. That collision set off a chain reaction ultimately involving seven vehicles and resulting in the death of the Ram driver. (Gold Country Media)
