Here are the top stories in Roseville today:

  1. Open in Roseville since 2014, The Monk's Cellar offers high caliber Belgian and English style brews to thirsty aficionados in its comfy pub setting. This last year, Monk's added a Whiskey Club to bring limited edition, top-tier libations to its whiskey-loving patrons. This comprehensive article does a deep dive into the history of whiskey's journey from Northern Europe to the U.S. and lays out how Monk's Whiskey Club strives to give its members a truly unique tasting/savoring experience. (Sacramento News & Review)
  2. Rumors about possible shortages of goods this holiday season are swirling. But loyal Roseville Daily readers know not to believe everything you see on social media, right? (re: yesterday’s edition) Amid all the urges to “buy early,” our friends at CBS News went straight to the sources to find out the local supply status of two must-have holiday staples: Thanksgiving turkeys and Christmas trees. (CBS 13)
  3. Halloween is night for revelry and treats enjoyed by humans far and wide. But the festivities can warrant some extra precautions to make sure Fido and Whiskers stay safe during all that FUN. Some puppers and kitters find the day perplexing at best, or downright terrifying at worst. The Placer SPCA recently shared some tips to help us make sure our four-legged family members enjoy Halloween without fear or injury. (Roseville Today)
  4. A newly re-formed California group seeks to make sure that people released from jails and prisons have the supports they need to re-enter society and successfully turn over a new leaf. The Re-Entry Providers Association of California is a coalition of re-entry support organizations from around the state that will lobby on parolees' behalf for supports in areas like job hunting, educational opportunities, childcare and housing options - the very things needed to keep rate of recidivism down as more former prisoners are released with criminal justice reform. Today in Roseville:

  • One neighborhood in Roseville takes Halloween to a whole new level. Head over to Garland Way and Silver Plume in West Roseville for a Hogwarts Experience light show with special effects that rival Hollywood. You can view the show from your car or on foot. Then take a short jaunt down the street and check out the Star Wars themed show. There’s no admission, but the creators are asking visitors to bring travel-sized toiletries or new adult-sized underwear to donate to The Gathering Inn. Through Sunday 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
  • Creativity is in the air as the 28th Placer Artists Studios Tour gets closer. While the actual tour does not begin until November 12th, there is a Taste of the Tour preview exhibit opening at Blue Line Arts today 11:00 am - 5:00 pm, running through November 14th. Blue Line will also hold a gala reception tomorrow 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm where you can get a preview of the tour, pick up your tour guide, meet with some of the artists, and enjoy beer and appetizers.
  • There are still timeslots available for the South Placer Mayors’ Spooktacular Blood Drive at the Galleria this afternoon. You don’t need all that blood, but someone else probably does. Be a lifesaver and make your appointment online! Noon - 4:40 pm
  • Are your little goblins clamoring for CANDY? Settle down those ants-in-their-pants by taking them to the free Trunk-or-Treat at St. Clare Church on Junction Blvd. There will be food, drinks, music, games and contests for best costumes and decorated trunks. 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
