  1. GEICO opened an office in Roseville in July of 2021 and now that office is closed, along with all other GEICO offices in California. If you are a policyholder you will still be supported by GEICO, but you will no longer be able to meet in person with an agent. All transactions will need to be done electronically with a digital interface. “We continue to write policies in California, and we remain available through our direct channels for the more than 2.18 million California customers presently insured with us,” the company said in an unsigned emailed statement to The Sacramento Bee. California Deputy Insurance Commissioner Michael Soller confirms "We are monitoring to make sure consumers are protected." (Sacramento Bee via MSN)
  2. A standoff in Placer County overnight on Monday night ended with the arrest of a 40-year-0ld male. The incident started around 10:45 on Monday night when a fight broke out between two men in the area of Galena and Sapphire drives. The suspect shot at the victim, grazing him on the ear. He then barricaded himself inside a home. He was taken into custody several hours later. There is no further information on the victim or the suspect at this time. (KCRA3 via MSN)
  3. Summer may be a little long in the tooth, but the summer concert series in Lincoln is still sizzlin'. There are events planned through September, from a Woodstock Experience to several tribute bands. You’ll find something for most any taste. So, grab family and friends and find a show to keep the summer rolling along! (Roseville Today)
  4. It's stone fruit season! These little beauties are probably my favorite fruits and the king of all stone fruits has to be the peach. That's why I'm excited that the Folsom Peach Festival is back this weekend on August 7 at the plaza of Historic Folsom. Of course there will be pie and cobbler, but there will also be a peach eating contest and peach beer? Yup! I wonder if that goes well with a chicken and waffle cone? (Roseville Today)
  5. The Five Cities 14U Screaming Eagles softball team out of Loomis has just become the region's first national champion! "It's a huge honor for sure,” Screaming Eagles coach Harry Jones said. “I was happy for the girls because I knew what we went through to get to this season. We had many moments of them becoming a team and gelling together and they never quit and that’s what makes me the most proud, being a part of that and setting a standard in the Norcal region for other organizations to emulate.” Well done, girls!
