Here are the top five stories today in Roseville:
- Want to save 35,000 gallons of water a year? So does the City of Roseville! Roseville’s water efficiency division will unveil its newest water-saving resource with the addition of the Inspiration Garden on May 11. Not only is it a water efficient garden, they want to teach others to be efficient with the resource, as well, and save even more for the 'Ville, so they will be hosting classes about water efficiency and garden best practices. Inspiration Garden is located at Martha Riley Library / Utility Exploration Center facilities. (Roseville Today)
- Folsom High’s softball team is just one win away from a Sierra Foothill League championship. For a long time, Folsom just wasn't a contender in softball. Then they brought on coach Tom Pfeiler five years ago and he's really turned things around. All Folsom (11-3) needs to do is beat Oak Ridge (1-13) on Wednesday and they will be champions. Go Bulldogs! (Folsom Telegraph)
- Summer is quickly approaching and that's prime time for spray grounds and other water play areas in Roseville parks. Unfortunately, right now it looks like Crabb Park and Luken Park will remain closed for the season, so that leaves Vernon Street Town Square as the main location for water play. That location will be open weekends starting May 14 and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day. (roseville.ca.us)
- Check out this $1.2 million home down the road in Citrus Heights! It may be a record-setting price tag for the city. It is a lovely home, with a 1,200-foot detached guest house set on a full acre of land. So, I’ll it's not surprising the property will go for a pretty penny. The property was built in 2020 and has been on the market for six days, according to the listing. (Citrus Heights Sentinel)
- Do you follow these Gold Country Media archive stories by Howard Stitt? Here's a story he pulled from 25 years ago: "At least 35 members of the Loomis area met at the Horseshoe Bar Grill to exchange ideas. Everyone present 'Buried the Hatchet' as a symbolic gesture to start on an even playing field with no past or lingering grudges. Meetings are to be held every two weeks. David Rosenaur offered to host for the first month with businesses or individuals paying for refreshments at future meetings."
