Here are the top three stories today in Roseville:

  1. Police are warning local families to be on alert after a Roseville student was reportedly confronted by an unknown man while walking to school on Thursday. The young girl told Roseville PD she was walking to school in the 1500 block of Champion Oaks Drive when a man she didn't know approached her. She said she "felt threatened" by the man and ran towards the school, where she notified the school administration and the police. Authorities announced they will be increasing patrols around this school and the surrounding neighborhood out of an "abundance of caution." (Good Day Sacramento)
  2. While most Roseville drivers couldn't be happier about Governor Gavin Newsom's proposal to halt this summer's upcoming gas tax hike, some Democratic leaders are concerned that the loss of tax revenue "could inhibit some economic growth." Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon said he has concerns, noting that the halt "could potentially jeopardize a tremendous amount of jobs" across California. Governor Newsom proposed the paused tax hike, at least for this year, and said he plans to take the $523 million in lost revenue from the state’s $45.7 billion surplus. (CBS Sacramento)
  3. Want to tap into your creative side this Spring? The City of Roseville has announced a series of upcoming community classes at the Maidu Museum and Historic Site. For the kids, there will be a Kid's Nature Photography class on Mar. 26 (ages 7 to 12) and a Guerilla Gardening: Seed Paper Craft session on Apr. 30 (ages 6 to 12). Then, for ages 15 and up, the Museum will hold a Beginning Nature Journaling art class on Apr. 2. Check out the City's press release for more details and sign-up information. (Press Release Desk)
